  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk
  • 8 oz. brick-style cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar (optional)
  • 2 Tablespoons milk or cream (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan lined with parchment paper.
  2. For the crisp topping, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter until crumbly; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine diced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon; set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time followed by vanilla and milk. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Beat cream cheese with sugar until smooth; mix in flour, vanilla, and egg until well blended.
  6. Layer half of the bread batter in the loaf pan, followed by half of the cream cheese filling and half of the apple filling. Repeat layers and top with crisp mixture.
  7. Bake for 60-75 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
