  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ cup mashed banana
  • For the filling: 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, ½ cup light brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, 2 large bananas (sliced)
  • For the topping: ¼ cup heavy cream, 4 ounces cream cheese, 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, 1½ cups powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Warm milk to lukewarm (120-130°F). In a bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, and sugar; sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt gradually until a soft dough forms. Mix until smooth. Cover and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about an hour).
  3. Prepare filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and sliced bananas in a bowl.
  4. Roll out dough into a rectangle (¼ inch thick) on a floured surface. Spread filling evenly over the dough and roll tightly from one end.
  5. Cut the rolled dough into 1-inch slices and place in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another half hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour warmed cream over rolls before baking. Bake for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  7. For frosting, blend softened cream cheese with butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Spread over warm rolls.
