  • 100 g dark brown sugar
  • 110 g vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 140 g sour cream
  • 100 g butter (room temperature)
  • 165 g powdered sugar
  • 23 tsp caramel
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 25 g butter
  • 100 g heavy cream
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground all spice

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing the homemade caramel sauce and let it cool.
  2. In one bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and all spice.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine wet ingredients including sugars, grated apples, vegetable oil, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), pour batter into a greased pan, and bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Prepare the buttercream by beating room temperature butter with powdered sugar and cooled caramel until smooth.
  7. Frost the cooled cake with caramel buttercream.
