  • 240 g all-purpose flour
  • 200 g grated apples
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 100 g dark brown sugar
  • 110 g vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 140 g sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 90 g granulated sugar (for caramel sauce)
  • 1 tbsp water (for caramel sauce)
  • 25 g butter (for caramel sauce)
  • 100 g heavy cream (for caramel sauce)

Instructions

  1. To make the caramel sauce, combine sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently until bubbling; cook until golden brown. Remove from heat and add butter and heavy cream carefully.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and all spice.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugars, grated apples, vegetable oil, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently until just mixed; pour into a prepared pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. For the buttercream, beat room temperature butter with powdered sugar until fluffy; stir in caramel and vanilla.
  7. Once cooled, spread buttercream over the cake and drizzle more caramel on top.
