  • 1 sheet thawed puff pastry
  • 6 oz almond paste
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Lay the thawed puff pastry flat on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. In a bowl, mix almond paste, softened butter, granulated sugar, and half of the beaten egg until smooth.
  5. Spread the filling down the center third of the pastry and cut diagonal strips on both sides.
  6. Fold over the strips alternately across the filling.
  7. Brush with remaining beaten egg and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffy.
  9. Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
