  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 cups uncooked macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups milk (for cheese sauce)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix ground beef, diced onion, breadcrumbs, egg, 1/4 cup milk, salt, and pepper until well combined. Press into the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. Bake meatloaf for about 20 minutes.
  4. Cook macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  5. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for one minute. Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk until thickened; add seasonings and stir in 1½ cups cheese until melted.
  6. Combine cooked macaroni with cheese sauce and pour over meatloaf. Top with remaining cheese.
  7. Bake for an additional 25 minutes until bubbly.
