  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs

  1. Cook elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente (7-8 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in flour until smooth and cook for about one minute.
  3. Gradually add whole milk while whisking until slightly thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  5. Combine cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce until well-coated.
  6. Transfer to a greased baking dish, top with panko bread crumbs, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
