Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs sirloin steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for cornstarch slurry, optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the sirloin steak into bite-sized cubes and pat them dry.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, then sear the steak bites for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add butter and minced garlic; sauté for about 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes; simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  5. If desired, whisk cornstarch with water, add to the sauce, then return steak bites to the skillet and coat well; cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Serve hot alongside your choice of sides.
