  • 12 oz canned chickpeas (drained)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grapeseed oil (or other neutral oil, for frying)
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon)
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Drain and pat dry the chickpeas. Mash them in a bowl until coarse.
  2. Mix in cumin, black pepper, salt, green onions, garlic, flour, and egg until combined.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Shape mixture into patties using about three tablespoons each.
  5. Fry patties for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. For the yogurt sauce: mix yogurt, lemon juice, dill, garlic, and salt in a bowl.
  7. Serve warm patties with chilled yogurt sauce.
