  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose plain flour
  • 1/2 cup chilled vegan butter or margarine
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 45 apples (cored and sliced)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose plain flour
  • Dash of lemon juice (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons melted vegan butter or coconut oil
  • 3 tablespoons apricot jam

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch loose-bottom tart pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, chilled vegan butter, and sugar until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until the dough forms. Chill the dough while preparing the filling.
  3. Toss sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and flour in a separate bowl.
  4. Roll out the pastry to fit the tart pan, press it in place, and fill with the apple mixture.
  5. Bake for about 70 minutes or until apples are tender and golden brown. Brush with melted vegan butter and glaze with apricot jam before serving.
