Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Peel, core, and slice the apples.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the flour to form a paste. Add sugars and water; bring to a boil before simmering for 3–5 minutes.
  3. Press one pastry into a 9-inch pie pan and arrange sliced apples inside.
  4. Create a lattice crust using remaining pastry strips laid over the apples.
  5. Pour the sugar mixture over the lattice crust.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F, then reduce to 350°F (175°C) and bake for another 35–45 minutes until apples are soft.
