Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1 cup + 2 tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp dark cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp espresso powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 tbsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a stainless steel pan, brown the cold butter over medium heat for about 10-12 minutes until nutty and golden. Transfer to a bowl and mix in chocolate chips until melted; let cool.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, espresso powder, and salt.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat eggs with sugar and vanilla until fluffy.
  5. Slowly combine the cooled chocolate mixture into the egg mix on low speed until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in dry ingredients until no streaks remain.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-40 minutes. Test doneness with a toothpick—moist crumbs indicate they are ready.
  8. Allow brownies to cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
