  • 14 oz boneless white fish
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs (regular and panko)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp oregano, dried
  • 1 tsp parsley, dried
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder or cayenne
  • 7/8 tsp paprika, smoked
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2 pinch salt
  • 1 neutral oil
  • 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Cut the fish into bite-sized pieces. In a mixing bowl, combine fish with egg, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, and herbs until well-coated.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour with spices. In a separate bowl, combine regular breadcrumbs and panko.
  3. Dredge each fish piece in the flour mixture first, then dip in milk before coating with breadcrumbs.
  4. For frying: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry nuggets until golden brown. For baking: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake on parchment-lined sheet for 15–20 minutes until crispy.
