Method
Prepare the Filling
- In a mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside.
Prepare the Pastry
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth out creases.
Assemble the Turnovers
- Cut the puff pastry into 4 equal squares. Place a spoonful of the apple filling in the center of each square. Fold the pastry over to form a triangle and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
Apply Egg Wash
- In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and water. Brush the egg wash over the top of each turnover.
Bake
- Place the turnovers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your apple puff pastry turnovers warm!
