Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast until well combined.
- Add the warm water and mix with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let it rest for 1 hour at room temperature.
Shape the Rolls
- After the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover the rolls with the kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake the Rolls
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Sprinkle cornmeal on the baking sheet under the rolls.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with olive oil and make a small slit on top of each roll.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crusty.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before serving.
