Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon salt preferably sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast or active dry yeast
  • 1.5 cups warm water about 110°F (43°C)
Topping Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for brushing

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast until well combined.
  2. Add the warm water and mix with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let it rest for 1 hour at room temperature.
Shape the Rolls
  1. After the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  2. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Cover the rolls with the kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake the Rolls
  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Sprinkle cornmeal on the baking sheet under the rolls.
  3. Brush the tops of the rolls with olive oil and make a small slit on top of each roll.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crusty.
  5. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before serving.
