Ingredients
  

Tostada Base
  • 8 pieces corn tostadas store-bought or homemade
Ground Beef Mixture
  • 1 pound ground beef 85% lean preferred
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water for simmering
Toppings
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or Mexican blend
  • 1 avocado sliced for garnish
  • 1/4 cup sour cream optional
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped, for garnish

Method
 

Prepare the Ground Beef
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  2. Drain excess fat, if necessary, then add chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and water.
  3. Stir to combine and simmer for about 10 minutes until the mixture thickens.
Prepare Tostadas
  1. While the beef is cooking, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place the corn tostadas on a baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes until crispy.
Assemble Tostadas
  1. Top each tostada with a generous portion of the ground beef mixture.
  2. Add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and sliced avocado on top.
  3. Drizzle with sour cream and sprinkle with chopped cilantro, if desired.
Serve
  1. Serve immediately while the tostadas are crispy.
