Mouthwatering Caramel Apple Pie Bombs

Ingredients
  

  • 2 apples, peeled and finely chopped Tart varieties like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are recommended.
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter For cooking the apple mixture.
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 8 pieces caramel candy
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted For brushing on top.
  • cinnamon sugar Optional, for sprinkling on top.

Method
 

  1. Peel and finely chop the apples. Combine with brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl. Let sit for a few minutes.
  2. In a skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the apple mixture and cook for 5-7 minutes until softened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Preheat the oven according to biscuit dough instructions. Flatten each biscuit into a round disk about 4 inches wide.
  4. Place a spoonful of the cooled apple mixture and a piece of caramel candy in the center of each biscuit. Fold and seal the edges tightly.
  5. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar if desired.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and puffed up.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or extra caramel sauce.
