Method
Prepare the Oven and Pan
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
Cream Wet Ingredients
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
Combine Mixtures
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Bake
- Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool and Serve
- Allow the bars to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into bars and serve.
